How to lend a hand

Whether you prefer connecting with patients or volunteering your skills and expertise to the administrative staff, there are no limits on how you can help. We welcome individuals and organizations to join us in caring for our patients and are happy to explore the many options that best meet your objectives, interests and skill.

Support our home and day hospice teams or administrative staff in the following ways:

1.      Befriender

Working in small groups, these volunteers pay home visits to patients and their family members once a week, or interact with patients at our day hospice centre.

2.      Housekeeper

Groups of volunteers come together to help clean the homes of patients who live alone.

3.      Hairdresser

We need volunteers to trim the hair of home-bound patients when necessary, and also require this service for day hospice patients from time to time.

4.      Keeping medical appointments

Volunteers can help to play a crucial and active part in helping patients move from their homes to medical facilities for treatment and follow-up appointments.

5.      Van assistants

Help our day hospice assistants while they pick patients up from their homes in the morning and give them a lift home in the evening.

6.      Therapy and activity assistants

Volunteers assist during therapy sessions, games and general activities for patients who come to the day hospice centre.

7.      Event organisers

From time to time we have events and may require additional hands. Help us facilitate events such as home cheer visits, Sunflower Remembrance Day and outings for patients.

8.      Administrative volunteers

Volunteers can help our staff with general administrative tasks such as filing and data entry.

9. Volunteers with special expertise

Volunteers with special skills such as translation, copywriting, website management, photography, videography and graphic design are needed to help HCA Hospice Care in corporate communications and publicity efforts.

10.  Work with youths under our yCG programme

If you enjoy working with young minds, help facilitate workshops under our Young Caregivers Programme (yCG). Click here to find out more about yCG.
