Psychosocial and Bereavement Support
The Psychosocial Services team is dedicated to applying social work knowledge and skills competencies in palliative and end-of-life care to alleviate suffering and maximize quality of life for patients, their families and caregivers.
Besides managing social cases and providing individual and family counselling, the team actively networks with other agencies to provide holistic care and support to patients and their families.
Caregivers Support Programmes
The psychosocial department organizes specific programmes for adults and children that address the emotional well-being of caregivers and their loved ones.
Sunflower Remembrance Day
HCA Hospice Care’s Sunflower Remembrance Day is a bereavement support programme for families, focused on caregivers, to help them come to terms with the loss of their loved ones. Launched in August 2004, it is a non-religious occasion and held three times a year.
Support for the Children
Children often find it difficult to cope with their parents’ illness and their emotional needs may be overlooked by family members caught in the struggle to care for the patient. To address this issue, HCA Hospice Care organizes parties and outings for patients’ children aged between 7 and 12 years to encourage interaction outside the home and have fun at the same time.
